Invisible Strings (the Interconnectedness of Us All)

Today’s post (which is admittedly a day late because my son was home sick yesterday) is a poem inspired by a prompt in one of Beth Kempton’s online courses. The topic, to wonder at the vastness and interconnectedness of everything.
Invisible Strings
We live in a world of invisible strings
that tie us together.
My heart to your heart,
my soul to your soul, tethered. So ours is only one
of millions of stories
of missed connections,
passing glances,
love, loss, or second chances. We get stuck, sometimes,
tangled in this intricate web.
The right person at the wrong time,
or the wrong person at the right one.Or maybe -
we are all exactly
where we need to be,
puppets pulled into place
by our invisible strings.
